The Corpus Christi Police Department has announced its plans for the 36th annual National Night Out.
During today's city council meeting, City Councilman Greg Smith read a proclamation and announced National Night Out will be celebrated on Tuesday, Oct. 1.
Senior Officer Jose Flores announced that the Corpus Christi Police Department will hold a kickoff party on that day at Academy Sport's parking lot at 5001 South Padre Island Drive.
The party will run from 4pm to 6pm. The Honor Guard and the Veterans Band will attend. Clarissa Serna will sing the national anthem. Several police vehicles will be out there. Blue Bell will give out free ice cream.
The event will kick off various festivities being held across the city.
