Several officers have been dispatched to the ditch off La Costa Drive and Wooldridge Road on Corpus Christi's south side.
Corpus Christi Police Department spokesman Lt. Michael Pena said a man reported having seen a body in a stormwater drain near the 5900 block of La Costa.
He said the man was able to point officers in the direction of the drain, and officers found the body.
Pena said the department currently has no information as to who the man is.
"(It's) still very early," he said. "I mean, this is only -- we're talking about a little over two hours ago, so it's still real early. Obviously the medical examiner's office is gonna come out here, and it's gonna take some time to determine cause of death."
Chief Michael Markle also was at the scene, along with the family of a man who recently was reported missing.
