CCPD arrests man in connection to homicide investigation

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Corpus Christi police say they have arrested a man who is accused of shooting and killing another man last month.

After a lengthy investigation, information was developed by the US Gulf Coast Violent Offender Task Force that wanted fugitive, 26-year-old Jose Luis Erebia was allegedly involved in a murder case which occurred November 15, 2020 on the 3100 block of S Port Avenue.

According to police, Erebia was staying at a residence located on the 700 block of Glenoak Drive.

Officers with the CCPD SWAT team executed a search warrant at an apartment on Glenoak Drive and Erebia was located and taken into custody without incident.

Last month, Ruben Castillo, a father and coach of a middle school-aged youth football team was shot and killed at An's Market in the 3100 block of S. Port Ave, according to police.

Erebia was transported to the Corpus Christi Police Department for questioning and was later transported to the City Detention Center for processing.

Police said a female was in the apartment at the time when officers entered.

Investigators said 29-year-old Vallenie Sanchez was arrested and charged with hindering apprehension.

Meanwhile, Erebia is currently being held on charges of murder and is being held on a $1,000,000 bond.

He was charged with two unrelated warrants for aggravated robbery and assault family violence.

Erebia is not the only person charged with Castillo's death.

Earlier this month, Roland Cabrera was arrested in connection to this homicide investigation.

Police said the investigation is still on-going.
