CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The Corpus Christi Independent School District could decide tomorrow whether to reopen its campuses next week.

CCISD Superintendent Dr. Roland Hernandez said the district will decide either late tomorrow or Thursday whether they will open campuses on Monday, March 23.

Students were out for Spring Break last week. And on March 12, district officials decided to take extra precautions during this coronavirus pandemic and extended Spring Break until March 23.

The district has used the extended period to deep clean their campuses to ensure students are not exposed to any germs.

In the meantime, there's no word on whether students will have to make up those missed days at the end of the school years.

According to CCISD Director of Communications Leanne Libby, the Texas Education Agency will make that decision.

"Indications at this time show that those days would not need to be made up," Libby said.
