CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — A Corpus Christi Independent School District teacher is facing child pornography charges.
Angela Christine Barbosa, a 45-year-old teacher at Galvan Elementary School, was arrested by Corpus Christi police on Monday night.
According to an arrest report obtained by KRIS 6 News, Corpus Christi police say "Angela Christine Barbosa, was communicating with a minor child in a sexually explicit manner."
The report also states "Barbosa confessed to engaging in the communications with a person she knew to be a minor” and confessed “to sending the minor child nude images of herself, and in turn the child sent a nude image of himself to her."
Barbosa is charged with possession, promotion of child pornography and the distribution of harmful material to a minor.
"CCISD prioritizes safety and takes allegations of wrongdoing seriously," the district said in a prepared statement. "In accordance with district procedure, Mrs. Barbosa has been placed on administrative leave with pay. The district is cooperating with authorities during the ongoing investigation. Anyone who has information to share with police is encouraged to call 888-TIPS."
