Investigators have released new information involving the cause of a local storage unit fire.
The Corpus Christi Fire Department said the fire was intentionally set and face arson charges.
The three-alarm fire was started last Monday afternoon at the U-Haul storage facility near the corner of Kostoryz Road and SPID, and even a week later, it still smells like burnt debris.
That's after more than 150 of these units caught fire last week.
Today we learned that up to a $1 million in belongings were lost.
Corpus Christi Fire Department investigator Capt. Mike Tressider said the department has no suspect description as of right now.
But investigators are looking at surveillance video and logs from the facility to try to find more information about who did this.
They say that someone went onto the property and intentionally started the fire.
The owner of the facility also tells me crews traveled from Phoenix to make contact with owners and help them clear out some of their belongings.
The suspect or suspects involved in this case face arson charges, which could range anywhere from a second-degree felony to a capital felony because firefighters were injured battling the blaze.
