CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Several fire stations have reported visits by senior residents who were under the impression that they would receive a COVID-19 vaccine at fire stations.
According to city officials, there are no vaccines being administered at any Corpus Christi fire station. The Corpus Christi Fire Department is, however, inoculating identified seniors through the City’s Saving our Seniors (SOS) initiative.
In a statement released Wednesday night, the SOS program was launched on Tuesday, January 26, by CCFD and provides at home vaccination services for senior residents who are homebound. These recipients were initially identified through their participation in the City’s senior service Meals on Wheels program.
Plans are in the works to expand the current SOS program by identifying senior residents who participate in senior service programming.
City officials ask all residents to refrain from visiting fire stations looking for COVID-19 vaccinations.
