INGLESIDE, Texas — Ingleside police have identified the 58-year-old victim in the fatal crash of a bicycle and a truck in Ingleside on Tuesday.
Police say that Robert Jackson was the person who died. It does not appear that Jackson had any relatives in the area and had recently been staying at the Paladin RV Park in the area.
The accident occured at about 12:04 p.m. Tuesday when Jackson was struck by a car and later died of those injuries after the accident near the intersection of State Highway 361 and Avenue A in Ingleside.
Jackson was struck by a silver Ford F250 truck near that intersection. The bicycle rider sustained major injuries and was immediately transported to Northshore Emergency Center in Portland, where he was later pronounced deceased.
The Texas Department of Public Safety responded to the scene to assist with the investigation into the crash.
The driver of the vehicle is cooperating with the investigation, and numerous witnesses have been identified and will be providing statements to assist with the investigation.
The driver’s name was not released by the Ingleside Police Department and he is not currently facing any criminal charges as a result of this crash.
