ROBSTOWN, Texas — Former U.S. Rep. Beto O' Rourke has shared a video showing him with a truckload of water bottles in Robstown that he plans to donate.
"We are in Robstown, where we just purchased a pallet of water that we are taking to the Rio Grande Valley to distribute in neighborhoods and colonias where they still don't have access to safe drinking water," said O'Rourke, who unsuccessfully ran for the U.S. Senate against Ted Cruz in 2018.
After a nationwide freeze took a particularly harsh toll on Texas' power grid and plumbing last week, many Texans are still struggling to find basic necessities even as the water boil notices locally and across the state are being lifted.
"Either they're under a boil water notice or they just don't have water."
O' Rourke also thanked the public for more than a million dollars in donations that are all going to helping needy Texans looking for water, food, shelter and transportation.
