CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The new year is already off to a great start for one Corpus Christi couple.

Their baby boy was born just a little over an hour into 2021!

Doctors say baby Anthony Garza was born into the world at 1:28 a.m. Friday morning over at Bay Area Hospital.

When he was born, he weighed 7 lbs, 14 oz. and is 21-inches long.

His parents Christopher Garza and Sarah Grant said they couldn't be more proud!

“All deliveries are exciting, but there’s something extra special about New Year’s Eve,” said James Hobbs, Assistant Chief Nursing Officer. “There’s excitement in the hospital and we all look forward to seeing who is going to be the first to ring in the New Year!”

Baby Anthony was delivered by Christine Canterbury, M.D., in the labor and delivery unit. He is one of nine babies born today at Bay Area Hospital.
