ALICE, Texas — Two men are in the Jim Wells County Jail after sherriff's deputy interrupted their attempted burglary.

The deputy was driving along Texas Blvd at 12:34 a.m. Thursday when he noticed white passenger vehicle with its lights off parked on the south side Yumi's Convenience Store.

After seeing the suspicious vehicle, the deputy realized the store's front door was broken and shattered glass on the floor. A baseball bat also was laying on the ground.

Shortly after noticing the broken door and bat, a man was seen running from the store toward the white passenger vehicle.

The deputy maneuvered his patrol vehicle into the middle of Lucile Drive, the side street, blocking the suspects' vehicle from leaving.

Two men, later identified as Juan Villarreal and Brandon Lopez, were handcuffed and detained. Alice Police Department officers later arrived at the scene, arresting both suspects. They were taken to the Jim Wells County Jail. charged with burglarizing the building.
