CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Halloween naturally prompts youngsters to visit homes they aren't familiar with.
County law enforcement officials want them to be careful and are taking steps to make it safer for them.
The Nueces County Community Supervision and Corrections Department will be conducting its 13th annual Sex Offender Sweep beginning Friday through Halloween Day.
In conjunction with the approaching holiday, local law enforcement officials will be conducting home visits on registered sex offenders currently on probation within Nueces County.
All District Judges have mandated that registered sex offenders who are under supervision with the Nueces County CSCD cannot participate in any Halloween celebrations. This includes having any decorations visible within the community, passing out candy or having any outside lights on between the hours of 6 p.m. on Halloween and 6 a.m. Nov. 1.
Each sex offender is required to remain inside their home unless they are working or participating in treatment.
Any suspicious activity by known sex offenders should be reported by calling 361-854-4122.
