Almost $350K, marijuana discovered following traffic stop

CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS — George West police officers made a surprising discovery after getting reports of a possible disturbance in a vehicle.

Officers were called by a concerned citizen that traveling on Highway 281, approaching George West. The witness said he was following a Ford SUV Tuesday and noticed a disturbance inside of the vehicle. When officers spotted the vehicle, they pulled it over.

During a search of the vehicle, officers found a hidden compartment inside of the vehicle. The compartment contained multiple bundles of cash. In the end, officers seized $349,600 along with a "brick" of marijuana.

After the traffic stop was made, George West police officers were told the vehicle and suspect were part of an ongoing Texas Department of Public Safety/federal investigation.

Officers arrested 30-year-old Armando Moreno or Roma, Texas. A woman, along with two children, was also inside of the vehicle at the time. They were released following the investigation.

Moreno was booked into the Live Oak County Jail.

He will be facing federal charges for conspiracy to distribute and intent to distribute cocaine, methamphetamine, and heroin-related to the Texas Department of Public Safety Criminal Investigation Division ongoing investigation.
