INGLESIDE, Texas — The Ingleside Police Department is investigating an incident where one of their officers shot a 42-year-old female in the 1800 block of Pace Avenue.

The woman shot has been identified as Heather Renee Roebuck of Ingleside. Roebuch was transported to Christus Spohn Hospital Shoreline where she has undergone surgery for her wounds and is listed in stable condition.

Ingleside police responded to a call at the home at about 9:35 p.m. Saturday after receiving several calls for shots heard in the area. After police approached a residence and announced their presence, an officer observed a woman enter the kitchen from a back room carrying a bolt action rifle.

The officer drew his weapon and again announced his presence several times, asking the woman to drop her weapon. Instead, the woman raised the rifle to her shoulder and worked the bolt action of the weapon, aiming it towards the officer.

The officer then discharged his weapon, causing the woman to drop to the floor and release her weapon. Police then secured the area and rendered aid to the victim until EMS arrived at the scene.

The Texas Department of Public Safety and Texas Rangers have been requested to investigate the incident. The officer who fired his weapon has been placed on administrative leave in accordance with current policy.

After recovering from her injuries, police say Roebuck could be facing several charges, including aggravated assault with a deadly weapon against a peace officer.
