CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — For the past 31 years, HEB has hosted their Feast of Sharing every Christmas. This year, the staff prepared to serve ten thousand people, and the house was packed, right when doors opened.
"This is a dinner that they count on each and every year, it puts a lot of pride in our hearts that we want to be able to deliver that for them," said Regina Garcia, Public Affairs, Senior Manager for HEB.
This year, a "funky jazz" band provided live entertainment. Kids also had their own area, where there was a live DJ, facepainting, and arts and crafts. And both adults and children enjoyhed getting pictures with Santa.
Over fifteen hundred different volunteer positions are filled in order to put on the feast. HEB Volunteers say they love making this day their Christmas tradition. Every year, new employees join in on the fun, like Sandi Ramirez. "This is my first year actually, so to get away from the store, I'm so excited!
All leftovers will be given to Metro Ministries. For some who attend, it could be their only Christmas meal. "For all the homeless and all the other people that are not having food, here is the place to have it," said Ben Lopez.
Along with the free christmas meal, HEB also provided complimentary flu shot. Making sure everyone has a healthy Christmas.
