Raise awareness for animal therapy at the Vets and Pets event

Corpus Christi Harley-Davidson ‎Vets & Pets from Facebook

The tradition of pets helping veterans deal with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) goes all the way back to WWII when a stray dog was adopted by military personnel and assisted doctors and nurses in a hospital.

Since then, animal therapy has had tremendous results for veterans with PTSD.

According to a study done by the Human-Animal Bond Research Institute, people with PTSD that were exposed to animal therapy saw a reduction in depression, PTSD symptom severity, and anxiety.

This event aims to help local veterans hook up with local organizations to receive emotional support from animal therapy.
