The Alice high school marching band is headed to Washington D.C.

The Alice band is one of only three that will play in the “National Memorial Day Parade.”

Band director Arnold Garza tells us his band was nominated by Congressman Filemon Vela Junior and they gladly accepted.

As you can imagine, these young musicians are pretty jazzed.

“It feels really exciting.” Ysabella Munoz says, “It’s a big deal for Alice. it seems like it’s gonna be a really great experience.”

“I’m just excited and I feel like it’s gonna be a big crowd.” Mia Perez says, “There’s gonna be a lot of people and it will be a good chance for us to show how good of a band we are in Texas. This is quite a bigger event, just because we’re getting to honor the service men and women and veterans and it’s a big deal.”

The band has been practicing in the heat every day for the last two weeks to be prepared.
They will play a medley of armed forces marched and “The Grand Old Flag.”
