Bayfront water attractions and a new bridge to Padre Island were on the agenda at today’s Corpus Christi City Council meeting.
A new roadway, just south of the JFK Causeway, that connects Padre Island to Corpus Christi’s south side took another step toward becoming a reality, as council members today voted in favor of the regional parkway.
The parkway is intended to help increased traffic on the south side as well as serve as an evacuation route for Padre Island residents.
Also on today’s agenda were Bayfront water attractions that have been dry for quite some time now.
City council today approved a contract that would repair the Water Garden and Bayfront Splash Park.
City Parks and Recreation has had plans in place to repair the features for a while, but until today, the department didn’t have the budget to fund the repairs.
There’s no word yet on when either water feature will return to full operational status.
