Two arrested under suspicion of soliciting minors online

Two alleged online child predators are in custody after a recent sting operation conducted by Corpus Christi Police.  

According to CCPD, the department’s Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, along with Homeland Security and the Texas Department of Public Safety conducted the 5–day, online operation, targeting people suspected of soliciting inappropriate pictures of children or attempting to meet with children for the purpose of sexual activity.

As a result of the operation, 55-year-old Shane Smith Seay and 26-year-old Lazaro Benito Rocha were arrest and charged with Online Solicitation of a Minor, a 2nd degree felony.  Rocha is also facing a misdemeanor charge of Distribution or Display of Harmful Material to a Minor.

Police say more arrests from the operation are expected to be made.

CCPD says its Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, Homeland Security Investigations and Texas Department of Public Safety continually strives to protect the children of the Corpus Christi and surrounding communities from online predators.  

The CCPD ICAC unit reminds parents and guardians to be diligent in monitoring their children’s online activities on all their electronic devices.
