Investigators have identified the body of a male driver whose car crashed into the Nueces River.

According to investigators with the Nueces County Medical Examiner’s Office, the body of 32-year-old Isreal Barrios, from Round Rock Texas, was found inside a vehicle that was pulled from the Nueces River.

The crash happened just after midnight on Monday.

Police say, Barrios, along with two female passengers, exited Interstate 37 toward Labonte Park, crashed through a barricade, and ending up in the water.

The two female passengers were able to get out of the car, but they told police they never saw the male driver get out.

Monday afternoon, police confirmed the Corpus Christi Police Department Dive team recovered the vehicle and discovered the body of the driver inside.
