Bill to establish burn pit registry passes Texas Senate

A local veterans’ support organization is celebrating a major win after House Bill 306 passed in the Texas Senate yesterday.

The bill, which is designed to get veterans help with healthcare issues related to service overseas, calls for the creation of the Texas Open Burn Pit registry.

Local group Burn Pits 360 was a driving force behind the bill that will officially recognize veterans suffering from exposure to toxins from burn pits, so the can ultimately get medical treatment and benefits.

Now, the bill is headed for Gov. Greg Abbott’s desk, where it is expected to be signed into law.
