Members of the local community came together today to honor a soldier they never met.
Army veteran, Spc. Jay Schneckenburger was laid to rest this morning at the Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery.
Schneckenburger passed away on March 17, but funeral arrangements were delayed, as no next of kin could be located.
Angel Bright, Schneckenburger’s hospice provider, took to social media to inform the public of today’s funeral, leading to an outpouring of support from total strangers.
All Faith Funeral Home donated a suit and casket for the funeral, and Schneckenburger was buried with full military honors.
