The final phase of the CHRISTUS Spohn Shoreline expansion is now complete, and today the hospital celebrated a dedication and ribbon cutting for its new North Tower.

The $335 million investment in the community will add 200 new patient beds to CHRISTUS Spohn Shoreline, serving residents in 12 counties.

Five years in the making, today’s ceremony is just the final phase. The first milestone was the opening of the Dr. Hector P. Garcia Memorial Family Health Center, a 40,000 square foot facility that serves more than 1,000 patients a month.

The new North Tower will house a state of the art emergency department and have the latest in modern healthcare technology, expanding the region’s only Level-2 Trauma Center.

Along with the health benefits the new facility will bring to area residents, the project also generated more than $400 million in economic activity and generated nearly 900 jobs.

The North Tower will be ready for patients in late April, and hospital staff have already begun moving equipment into the facility.
