CCPD: Shooting leaves 21-year-old female dead, man arrested

Corpus Christi police say they have made an arrest in connection to a shooting that left a 21-year-old female dead.

The shooting happened just before 11:15 p.m. Friday night near the 2900 block of South Staples Street.

When officers arrived, they found the young woman dead.

Investigators detained several people near the home and discovered there was a disturbance that led up to the shooting. Senior Officer Travis Pace, with the Corpus Christi police department, said, “Something happened at the gathering which caused the female to be shot.”

Officers arrested 26-year-old Julian Garcia at the scene.

He was booked into the Nueces County Jail and charged with murder.

Detectives are still investigating the shooting and are asking for any witnesses to come forward.
