The City of Corpus Christi is hosting its first ever Youth Resource Fair tomorrow in hopes of helping teens in our area.
According to a press release sent out by the city, Corpus Christi’s Municipal Court is handling more than 100 Class C misdemeanor juvenile cases. Many of those cases include traffic tickets and curfew violations.
So, city case managers are teaming up with 50 local agencies to host the fair tomorrow.
They will have information on dropout prevention, mental health, youth development and more.
Juvenile case manager Priscilla Nerios said Del Mar College, Workforce Solutions, and several social service and substance abuse agencies will be there as well offering information on the services they provide.
“We have families are dealing with mental issues. Then, those agencies will be there to provide that information to them. It is scary to not know where to go where your child is dealing with some serious issues,” Nerios said.
The Youth Resource Fair will be held at the American Bank Center’s Exhibit Hall A. It runs from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
There will be several live youth performances from Ballet Nacional, Just for Kix Dance School and CCPALS Taekwondo Youth Program.
Also, West Oso High School’s Honor Society will be collecting new and used jeans for their “Jeans for Teens” drive. The jeans they collect will be donated to agencies that help teens in our area.
