Payless ShoeSource says it is planning to close all of its remaining stores.
The discount shoe retailer planes to file for bankruptcy for the second time later this month.
The move would prompt Payless to close almost 2,100 stores across the nation and Puerto Rico.
The shoe retailer is the latest brick and mortar retailer to fall victim to bankruptcy.
The Topeka, Kansas based company has been trying to find a buyer, after attempting to emerge from its bankruptcy declared 18 months ago.
Payless says they will now prepare to run liquidation sales starting as early as Sunday.
A majority of the stores are expected to remain open until May.
