In an effort to get more registrations for the run, organizers added a 1k run for less experienced runners.

Executive Director of the Rise School Vanessa Nisbet said before the event, “as of this morning, we had 650 people registered and we have surpassed last year’s numbers tremendously and we cannot wait”

The funds raised from the event go to the Rise School of Corpus Christi, a one of a kind school in Corpus Christi that is committed to early education of children with and without disabilities. The school provides an alternative to the traditional classroom with master’s level educators and on-staff speech, occupational, physical, and music therapists.

“putting on a 5K is more than just bringing in money, it’s making the community aware of what the Rise school is…” Nisbet said, “what we do, what we serve and we are a growing school and we just want to make the community aware that we are a preschool program for children with special needs and children without specials needs.”
