Two horses dead after possible poisoning at South Texas Trail Ride

The South Texas Trail Riders say that two horses may have been poisoned during last week’s ride.

According to an online post by South Texas Trail Riders Inc. the horses were poisoned sometime on Feb. 9 while tied to a trailer at Martinez Hall in San Antonio.

Trailriders: Word of caution, please keep and eye on your horses if you were parked at Martinez Hall this past weekend….

STTR says one of the horses died, and one had to be put down, and they are waiting on a veterinarian’s lab results for more information.

STTR says an investigation has been launched into the possible poisoning, and is advising participants in the ride to keep an eye on their horses.

KRIS 6 News has contacted the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office and the San Antonio Police Department for more information, and is awaiting a response.
