A dollar store employee who’s accused of shooting at some alleged shoplifters appeared in court Monday morning.
Sergio Diaz, Jr., 32, appeared in the 347th District Court for his arraignment.
During his hearing this morning, Diaz, Jr. pleaded not guilty to a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
In January 2018, Diaz was working at the Dollar General at the Bel Aire Shopping Center on Staples near Annapolis.
According to police, Diaz confronted a couple he thought was stealing. Police said moments later Diaz fired two shots at the couple but he wasn’t sure if he hit anyone.
About three hours later, one of the victims showed up at the hospital with a gunshot wound.
Diaz is set to go on trial on February 25th.
