A local attorney has been arrested after a year-long investigation by Corpus Christi Police and the Nueces County District Attorney’s Office.

CCPD’s Narcotics and Vice Investigations division officers were conducting an evidentiary search warrant at a home in the 15000 block of Cruiser Street Wednesday morning. When officers arrived at the residence, they met 66-year-old John R. Perry as he was leaving for work.

Police detained Perry and arrested him after drugs were found in his possession.

As investigators searched the home, they also found small amounts of substances they believe to be cocaine and methamphetamine as well as drug paraphernalia and other evidence.

Perry has been charged with the second-degree felony Possession of a Controlled Substance, and could serve between two and 20 years in prison.

Officers also arrested 38-year-old Maria Torres during the raid.

Police say Torres was in possession of a small amount of methamphetamine and had an outstanding warrant.

Perry and Torres could face additional charges as the investigation continues, police said.
