A Nueces County Sheriff’s Deputy was injured this morning while attempting to serve a warrant to a man awaiting trial on a vehicular manslaughter charge.
Sheriff’s department officials say they were serving a warrant on 20-year-old Michael Patrick Lee at around 10:30 a.m. in the 3700 block of Gollihar Road, when he got into a car and attempted to leave.
When a deputy tried to stop Lee from leaving, Lee hit the deputy with the vehicle and fled the scene.
The deputy was taken to CHRISTUS Spohn Shoreline hospital with a pelvis injury, but is expected to recover.
In July 2016, Lee was charged with intoxication manslaughter after police say he crashed a car into a utility pole in the 1800 block of Baldwin Boulevard.
According to police, Lee’s pregnant girlfriend was in the car and lost her unborn child as a result of the crash.
