Car accident causes south side power outage

UPDATE: The AEP Power Outage Map shows power was restored to the area just after 7:30 a.m.


A car accident on Weber just south of Holly has caused a power outage. A utility pole was severed in the accident and just over 1,600 AEP customers are without power.

Just after 4 a.m., a speeding vehicle side-swiped another vehicle on Weber Rd. and then lost control, according to Lt. Israel Sosa with the Corpus Christi Police Department. The car then hit the pole, leaving the pole sideways.

Accident at Weber near Holly left a pole damaged, knocking out power to hundreds of homes and businesses.

The woman who was driving the speeding vehicle was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

AEP is on scene to assess the damage to the pole and power lines.
