Corpus Christi Police have released video of officers and civilians working together to aid the occupants of a vehicle that caught fire following a New Year’s Day accident.

According to police, Richard Isaiah Lopez was driving the wrong way on SPID when he slammed into an SUV near the Staple Street exit.

Lopez died at the scene.

Police commended the officers and civilians for saving the life of the 70-year-old male, saying he would not have survived without their heroic efforts.

Police say alcohol was likely a contributing factor in the crash.
