Police were called out to an alley after seeing two men fighting Saturday afternoon.

A homeowner is recovering after he was cut in the hand trying to stop another man from burglarizing his trailer.

The incident happened in the alley behind a business near the intersection of Elizabeth and Staples streets.

According to police, a homeowner heard someone rummaging inside his trailer around 1:00 p.m. Saturday and when he opened the door, he saw a 49-year-old suspect armed with a knife.

Police say the victim closed the trailer door, pulled out a gun that was not loaded and then opened the door. Officers at the scene said the victim yelled at the armed suspect to release the items he had collected inside the trailer.

After that, the two men got into a fight. The suspect was pistol-whipped.

Police arrived at the scene when the two were struggling and arrested 49-year-old Randy Cowman. Investigators also discovered Cowman had several warrants out for his arrest.

Police say he will also be facing a burglary charge.
