Thief targets Nueces County firefighting group

Five fuel tanks used for operating water pumps were stolen last week from a warehouse belonging to the Nueces County Emergency District Service number Three.

An emergency first responder group in rural Nueces County had some important pieces of equipment stolen.

Five fuel tanks used for operating water pumps were stolen last week from a warehouse belonging to the Nueces County Emergency District Service number Three.

The thefts happened over a period of several days.

Surveillance video shows a man breaking in on different nights taking those fuel tanks.

The chief says those tanks are needed to operate their pumps when they fight fires.

District Fire Chief John Davis says, “It’s important of the needs of the vehicle and the apparatus and the equipment on the truck that the truck was placed out of service for a few hours which puts the community at risk.”

The stolen tanks have been replaced. The search continues for the thief.

Here is a statement from the Bishop Police Department:

The Bishop Police Dept. is requesting the help of local citizens in identifying an individual.  The Nueces County Emergency Services District #3 in Bishop, Texas has had several portable gas tanks taken from service vehicles and damaged property.  The Bishop Police Dept. is requesting anyone who can identify the person in the picture taken from surveillance cameras at the ESD#3 building.  Please call the Bishop Police Dept. at 361-584-2443 if you have information related to this individual.
