A Corpus Christi man is in jail today after being accused on an early-morning robbery of a local fast-food restaurant.

Police said Juan Antonio Barrientes has been accused of pulling out something that resembled at a weapon at Whataburger. He made his way out with some money.

Police later found him in a dumpster behind a business on the 2500 block of Morgan. He covered himself in trash and debris.

Officers say he was holding a cardboard box over his head when they found him.

The money taken from the restaurant was recovered at the time of the arrest, police said.

Barrientes was arrested after an hour-long pursuit after the robbery.

Officers with the Corpus Christi Police Department responded the the robbery call at 3:10 a.m. at the Whataburger on the 2400 block of Baldwin. Police said a Hispanic man with red pants and a black sweatshirt walked into the business and suggested to the worker that he had a weapon. Officers could not confirm if the man was actually holding a weapon.

The man then took off on foot. Officers searched the area for about an hour before taking the man into custody for aggravated robbery and evading arrest.

The Portland Police Department along with the Corpus Christi Fire Department assisted the CCPD with the search and arrest.
