Gloria Hicks Elementary held its 8th annual “Drop Everything and Read” Day.
More than 130 community leaders, including Corpus Christi Fire Chief Robert Rocha, Corpus Christi Police Chief Mike Markle and Bishop Michael Mulvey read to students during today’s event.
KRIS 6 News anchor Lee Sausley also took part in the fun. He read a Spiderman book to the classroom full of children.
School Librarian Andrea Martinez said they hope today’s event allows their students to know reading is important.
