Early morning fog may have played a factor in an accident at the Labonte Park bridge on south bound IH 37. Traffic is severely backed up coming into Corpus Christi this morning.
The driver of the truck ran into the back of a car that was being towed, causing the truck driver to lose control and flip over on the highway, Lt. Tim Brown with the Corpus Christi Police Department said.
“Visibility was pretty bad this morning, there was fog, especially right here at the river,” Brown said.
The truck is carrying about 2,000 gallons of diesel fuel. Authorities are asking drivers to find an alternate route while crews clean up the mess spilled by the truck.
