Man wanted in connection with Taft shooting arrested

TAFT — The U.S. Marshals Task force arrested Ronnie Rodriguez Sr., today after he was located in a McAllen motel.

Rodriguez is facing a capital murder charge that stems from an event that occurred in Taft on Saturday.  He allegedly shot five men at a child’s birthday party following an apparent argument between two families. Four of the men died and another man remains in critical but stable condition.

The Texas Rangers asked the U.S. Marshals-led  Gulf Coast Violent Offender and Fugitive Task Force to assist in the manhunt on Monday. Rodriguez was found at a motel in the 2000 block of South 10th St. Rodriguez was taken to the McAllen Police Department for processing.

Rodriguez will await extradition back to San Patricio County. There is no bond set at this time.
