ROCKPORT – Wilcox Furniture is celebrating its newest store as it helps rebuild Rockport after Hurricane Harvey.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday. The highlight will be drawing for the winner of a $10,000 furniture giveaway.
The store’s location in Rockport is a new 15,000 square-foot building and it will be part of the Rockport community, which was badly damaged during the hurricane last year. Managers say they have added a Bassett design center to their new location.
Bassett has been a recognized brand name leader in the United States for more than 100 years. Now, the residents of Rockport, Aransas Pass, Port Aransas, Portland and surrounding communities can enjoy the new Bassett Design Center at 12 BUS 35 in Rockport.
When asked about the timing of this event in light of the recent damage due to the storm, George Moore, CEO of Wilcox Furniture responded, “We believe we are positioned at the right time since people are in the middle of rebuilding their lives. We have a free interior design service to assist folks in coming back stronger than before.
“We have ample credit available to redesign and create the living room, dining room or bedroom of our customer’s dreams! Technology has never been easier to custom build living rooms that can fit the specific needs of our customers. Best of all, it’s delivered in 30 days!”
Moore said Wilcox officials have been working extensively to have the new facility ready for the Rockport area.
“In the last 10 months we’ve been working to create a new facility that is in keeping with the coastal theme and training our staff to be up-to-date to educate and inform people on furniture and flooring options then delivering those great values fast,” he said. “We have implemented new technology that will also help our staff with instant up to date information! With the wireless devices, we can now give our customers the information they need instantly. We have also gone through and upgraded our website to provide a more helpful pre-shopping experience with new features.”
Wilcox officials are partnering with the Rockport community to bring back jobs, build a better shopping experience and help people re-establish themselves to a better lifestyle than what they had before the storm.
