ROCKPORT – Nearly one year after Hurricane Harvey hit, Governor Greg Abbott attended a Harvey anniversary service at the First Baptist Church of Rockport. It was the second time Governor Abbott visited the Harvey-hit town in the past week.

Hundreds listened on Sunday morning, as Governor Abbott shared his thoughts about the recovery of the Coastal Bend after the storm.

The Governor began by sharing his gratitude of the community’s effort to come together after the hurricane. Highlighting how the community has been resilient, and persevered, Governor Abbott said it’s been inspiring to witness.

He also spoke of how the power of prayer can go a long way, especially during a difficult time like after Harvey.

KRIS 6 spoke to several church-goers who said the support of the Governor and the state has been encouraging since Harvey made landfall last year.
