Corpus Christi Police have opened a death investigation after a man’s body was discovered.
According to police, officers were dispatched to the 2700 block of Mary Street shortly after 5:00 p.m. on an initial report of an assault and possible overdose.
Police say the man was rushed to the hospital by Emergency Medical Services, where he was later pronounced dead. Investigators clarified Saturday afternoon it appears the man wasn’t not assaulted, but are still investigating the circumstances of the man’s death.
Police describe the victim as a white male, about 58 or 59 years old.
