CORPUS CHRISTI – CCPD says a man allegedly tried to evade police officers after he was pulled over and they discovered he had four warrants out for his arrest.

The incident happened Monday afternoon in the 200 block of Louisiana Avenue. According to police, they saw a vehicle speeding and pulled it over on Louisiana Avenue.

After questioning the driver, Corpus Christi police say the man didn’t have a state ID or a driver’s license. After the suspect called his mom to tell officers his ID number, police discovered the man had four warrants for his arrest from Refugio County.

The man then ran from the scene on foot and tried to hide in the attic of a garage in the 200 block of Ohio Avenue.

Police say they arrested 27-year-old Rodney Garcia and charged him for failing to identify as a fugitive, evading, and resisting arrest.

Garcia faces those charges as well as the other charges stemming from other warrants from Refugio County. Further reports show the warrants were issued after he failed to appear before a Judge and failing to identify as a fugitive in Refugio County.

He was transported to the City’s Detention Center and booked over at the Nueces County Jail.
