The Corpus Christi Museum of Science and History will soon be under new management.
The current managing company tells KRIS 6 News they will not be extending their contract.
The museum has been managed by Corpus Christi Museum Joint Venture, otherwise known as CCMJV, since 2012. Their contract ends at the end of September.
Reps for CCMJV tell us they have tripled to museum’s income, but they say they decided not to continue managing the city owned facility after the city changed the terms of their agreement.
Now the city is reviewing at least two proposals from other management companies.
One of those was submitted by the group Friends of the Museum. The museum’s former director, Carol Rehtmeyer is part of that group. She was let go by the current management company in 2016.
Rehtmeyer and Friends of the Museum previously told the City Council they were interested in managing the Museum of Science and History.
