CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — More cash will soon be flowing into the Port of Corpus Christi's coffers thanks to the federal government.
The U.S. Department of Transportation has awarded the port a $17.6 million grant.
The money will be used to refurbish docks at the Avery Point terminal on the northern side of the ship channel.
The upgrades will double the dock capacity.
Port officials say the project is the first phase of a complete overhaul of the facility.
