14-year-old found shot, 17-year-old charged with capital murder

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Corpus Christi Police report that a 17-year-old was charged with capital murder after the shooting of a 14-year-old girl.

Local authorities were dispatched to the area of the 5400 block of S Alameda Street around 2:50 a.m. and found a 14-year-old girl who had been shot.

"This was not a random act of violence and the parties involved were known to each other," says the Corpus Christi Police Department Blotter.

Officers located and arrested the suspect, 17-year-old Jose Garcia, at about 8 a.m..

He was transported main station, interviewed, transported to the City Detention Center, and processed on a capital murder charge at about 6:10 p.m..
