CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — A 10-year-old boy ran a mile in honor of fallen CCPD officer Alan McCollum.
Zechariah Cartledge founded the non-profit "Running 4 Heroes," an establishment committed to honoring first responders who pay the ultimate sacrifice on duty.
"Running 4 Heroes started with a kid, an appreciation for our First Responders, and a mission to raise awareness and funds for those fallen in the line of duty," the Running 4 Heroes website says.
Along with financial assistance for injured first responders and the families of fallen first responders, Zechariah uses the donations to buy a flag which he carries on his one-mile runs. After his run, he presents the flag to the family of the hero he ran for.
He finished today's mile in 15 minutes in Orange County, Florida.
