ALICE, Texas — We have continuing coverage on a fatal shooting that happened earlier this week in Alice.
As was noted by the Jim Wells County Sheriff's Office, It was that area's first homicide of 2020.
The sheriff provided some additional information about the shooting that took place on San Felipe Street Monday Night.
The victim, 49-year-old Ernesto Salinas was shot in the head.
He was taken to a Corpus Christi hospital where he later died.
The alleged shooter 46-year-old Victor Trevino Junior turned himself in to authorities Wednesday.
Police are still looking for the murder weapon.
“We got information where the gun might be located so the investigators are working diligently on that.” said Sheriff Danny Bueno.
Trevino is charged with murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
His bond has been set at four hundred thousand dollars.
