CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Tonight, we will continue our series on the homeless crisis across the Coastal Bend.
In Flour Bluff, homeless camps have been a concern for decades.
Police find them hidden in the brush or even on abandoned properties.
We will take a look back at some of those encampments that have been cleared out in Flour Bluff over the years.
We’ll speak with Deputy Chief Christopher White who says they have always had issues with homelessness in the Flour Bluff area. We also visit with a couple of homeless individuals and hear their stories.
“We feel safe in the Bluff,” said Cammy Andrews, a homeless person from Flour Bluff. “And I don't know in town, like I told you earlier. I just know the bluff and I feel safe here.”
You’ll hear more later today in a KRIS 6 News special report. And you’ll learn how the police have been working with the community to clean up more areas in Flour Bluff.
