Early voting tops entire 2016 early voting total

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — This year's early vote turnout in Nueces County continues to soar.

The 2020 total has now surpassed the numbers for the early vote in the 2016 election with six days of early voting still remaining.

As of the close of polls on Saturday, 71,546 votes have been cast in person and 13,721 mail-in votes have been received. Saturday's total was 4,814 in-person votes cast.

That brings the local total to 85,267 early voters.

That total is 20 percent higher than the 2016 election total in Nueces County of 71,056.

Early voting will continue every day until Friday Oct. 30.
